Momentum: Incentive (State provider for chronic)
Assume scheme pays all these costs, unless otherwise stated
Standard Dentistry:
  • One dental consult per year.
  • Otherwise, from day-to-day benefit
Specialised Dentistry:
  • Wisdom teeth, in chair: R1,670 co-payment .
In-Hospital Dentistry:
  • Maxillo-facial surgery and general anaesthesia for children under 7yrs: Hospital and anaesthetist accounts paid by scheme, with R1,670 co-payment. Surgeon, dental and dental specialist accounts paid from day-to-day benefit
  • Wisdom teeth: Paid by scheme with:
    Day hospital: R3,300 co-payment
    Overnight hospital: R6,150 co-payment
  • Procedures due to trauma: Covered
Orthodontics:
  • From day-to-day benefit

  • PMBs: Prescribed Minimum Benfits. To read more about PMBs click here
  • DSPs: Designated Service Provders. Where stipulated, you must use specific specific providers to get full benefit.
  • Co-payment: Paid out of pocket, or out of savings account. Sometimes this is refundable to you if you have a gap product

  • No limits or co-payments can apply to treatment of PMBs, which is always unlimited, although subject to strict protocols and scheme rules.
  • "Unlimited" benefits are still subject to authorisation, protocols and sublimits
