rehealth.co.za is a pet project I started years ago, when I struggled to find the right medical aid for my family. I realised the industry was ridiculously – and purposefully – obfuscated, and I set out to try fix it. I read the thousands of pages of fine print, figured it out, and tried to make it simpler for others. It’s working: over the years, this site has won numerous awards and has helped over 500,000 people figure the nonsense out! 

Along the way, I myself was diagnosed with a rare lymphoma and I was lucky that I understood the nitty gritty details of how medical aid was obligated to support me in the journey (all good for now, thanks!). That whole experience grew my determination to expand the scope of rehealth into overall wellness and health advocacy. I believe everyone should be their own best health advocate, and the rehealth newsletter champions this (please sign up!). That’s my focus for 2026!
