More about Dr Maritha Rossouw

Maritha Rossouw matriculated in 1989 from Oranje Girls High School in Bloemfontein and then went on to complete her medical degree in December 1995 at the University of the Free State. She spent 2 years working in the UK after completing her internship at the Pelenomi and Universitas Hospitals in Bloemfontein.

In January of 2001 she started as a Registrar in Radiation Oncology at the Tygerberg hospital. In 2002 she relocated to Pretoria with her husband for his career advancement and then worked as senior medical officer in Medical Oncology at Steve Biko Academic hospital for 2 years before joining Dr Alberts, Bouwer & Jordaan at the Wilgers Oncology Centre. She was involved in clinical trials and worked at the unit until December 2010. During that time she completed one of the first palliative medicine courses that was run by UCT.

In 2011 she went back to being a registrar in Radiation Oncology at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital- where she qualified as a Clinical and Radiation Oncologist from the College in August 2014. Since January 2015 she has been working in full time private practice with the Alberts, Bouwer & Jordaan group – and is currently involved in the Witbank Clinic as well as Wilgers, Unitas and Midstream units.

She is married to a minister of religion – currently studying to be an Educational Psychologist and has an 8 year old son. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, seeing friends, walking and gardening.
