The WELLTH Fund is available to all Discovery Health members, and covers comprehensive list of screening and prevention healthcare services – up to R10,000 per family. Once you have completed your free health checks (see below), you will have access to the following services:
Benefits
All services are covered at scheme rate, up to your allocated Family allowance.
General health
- Check-up at a general practitioner (GP)
- Dental check-up
- Eye check-up
- Hearing check-up
- Skin cancer screening
- Heart consultation
- Lung cancer screening for long-term smokers
- Medical devices used to monitor blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and respiratory.
Physical health
- Diet, nutrition and weight management at a dietitian
- Physical movement and mobility management at a chiropractor, biokineticist or physiotherapist.
- Fitness Assessment or high-performance fitness assessment in our Wellness Network
- Foot health at a podiatrist
Mental health check-up
- Mental wellness check-up to support mental wellbeing at a psychologist, nurse, social worker, registered counsellor, or psychiatrist.
Women’s and men’s health
- A range of women’s and men’s healthcare services. These include gynaecological and prostate consultations with your doctor and a bone density check.
Children’s health
- Children’s wellness visit, which includes growth and developmental milestones assessments with an occupational therapist, speech therapist, or physiotherapist.
How much you get:
Your WELLTH Fund limit is dependant on the size and make up of your family. You receive R2,500 per adult dependant and R1,250 per child dependant two years and older. There is a maximum limit of R10,000 per family. (Example: Two parents and a 6 year old have a R6,250 WELLTH Fund)
How it works
- This is benefit is available once per lifetime.
- If you’ve been a Discovery member prior to Jan 2023, this benefit expires in Dec 2024.
If you joined Discovery after Jan 2023, it will expire at the end of the year after the year you joined. (If you joined in Feb 2024, it will expire in December 2025) - Every member needs to complete a free Health Check before the WELLTH Fund is unlocked. See below.
Health Checks
- Every adult member must complete a health check which is made up of certain tests such as blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index and HIV screening at one of Discovery’s wellness providers.
- This health check is free.
- Children 2-18 yrs years can complete either a Kids Health Check or an online Kids Health Review to unlock the WELLTH Fund. The children’s health check includes growth assessment tests such as height, weight, head circumference, and health and milestone tracking. The Kids Health Review is an online assessment that must be completed by the principal member on the policy for children younger than eighteen.
